Over the month of July, we’ve asked some creative leaders and worshippers from around the globe to pen letters to the creatives and worshippers. They’re intended to encourage your hearts (if you’re recharging over the Northern Hemisphere’s summer), and to bring some new life (especially if you’re in the Southern Hemisphere’s winter). So happy reading each. We hope these words cultivate new hope in your souls and a fresh sense of worship in your everyday life.
To the Creatives, the Worshippers, the Ones Who Keep Showing Up…
To the ones who build stages and string lights,
who arrive early and stay late,
who pray over setlists and tracks,
who wonder if it’s ever enough…
This letter is for you.
To the ones who feel like you need to be unicorns,
rare, magical, irreplaceable,
yet invisible enough not to draw attention to yourselves,
but present enough to draw attention to Jesus.
This letter is for you.
To the ones torn between practice and performance,
between excellence and authenticity,
between spontaneity and structure,
between what’s anointed and what’s just… too much.
We see you, hear you, and want to instill hope in you again today.
You carry tension in your bones like chords waiting to resolve.
You live in the liminal space,
between creativity and obedience,
between self-expression and self-sacrifice,
between art and altar.
And you need to know, God sees that space.
And He meets you there.
Don’t despise the work. Don’t doubt its worth.
In the face of criticism and critique.
The worship of God still matters.
He still deserves your all.
Not because the people in the pews are impressed,
or leadership likes what you bring,
or it feels cool…
But because our God breathed out the stars.
He splashed the world with color.
He spun melody into atoms and harmony into DNA.
He painted sunsets that no lighting rig can rival.
And He made you,
to reflect His beauty,
to echo His truth,
to carry His presence.
You are not too much!
You are not too little!
You are not behind!
You are not alone!
Every time you show up with your cracked-open heart and trembling hands,
Every time you lead worship with mustard-seed faith and a voice held together by prayer and warmups,
Every time you make space for someone else to encounter God,
You are doing holy work.
So keep going. Keep creating.
Keep choosing the hidden way.
Keep taking the risk to be both excellent and authentic.
Keep loving the people in front of you,
while lifting your eyes to the throne above you.
Because He is still worthy.
Still enthroned.
Still the audience of One.
Still holding the whole thing together - including you.
The world needs beauty.
The Church needs worship.
And heaven is still seeking worshippers in spirit and truth.
So keep being faithful.
And because you are reading this … my best guess is that you already are!
We pray this encouraged you today. If you know a worshipping friend or creative teammate who could use a little lift, why not send it their way?
This reads like a modern day Psalm :)
