Hey Crashers,
It's been a great week here as we journeyed from Nashville to Melbourne and are now back home in Sydney. Amidst all the travel, there have been some great conversations with friends, time with family, and a little of the 24/7 Prayer Conference. Along the way, we have collected some great links, heard inspiring new worship songs (some we will be able to share in the days to come), and gathered some great book recommendations (which we will get to you soon). So much to share - we hope this Rapid 5 inspires you to create with intentionality… and maybe eat a little ice cream 😉.
Grace and Peace,
Cass and Rich
5 things worth sharing this week.
Undeceptions hit 2 million downloads.
Recently, our friend John Dickson (who has recently moved to Wheaton College in Chicago) celebrated 2 million downloads of “Undeceptions” (Congratulations John and team!!) - it's a brilliant podcast that explores a vast range of topics. Rich and I are listening to one about "the intertestamental period." Our daily Bible reading plan has just transitioned from the Old to the New Testament, so this has been so insightful and fascinating.
The Orchard at your fingertips.
Rachel Hughes is a brilliant female leader in the Church globally and a local church pastor at Gas Street with her husband Tim Hughes. Together with her sister Amy, they have been running a podcast called “The Orchard” - check out this episode on Hannah.
Creating Sunday screen content.
Christian Scott is a friend from the UK. He's a genius regarding screen media and a curator of beauty. He has an eye that enhances worship and has recently lent his strength and talent to “Sunday Screens”.
He writes: -
The worship experience is something that's truly precious. Every week across the world, churches gather to cultivate an atmosphere where people feel connected and inspired. These moments can greatly impact our individual journey with God.
Sunday Screens is a team of dedicated visual artists, a collective with decades of experience, passionate about serving the Church. Every month, Sunday Screens releases new worship visuals. Building blocks to equip your local expression, ultimately pointing people to Jesus.
This month's release is available now here.
In case you missed it…
Making life (taste) beautiful.
While in Nashville, a friend made the most incredible dessert as we sat around their kitchen table, talking about life, kids, music, and fun mastering. I'm yet to try it, but it was all kinds of wonderful with a little bit of Jeni’s vanilla and honey ice cream! (Let us know if you’ve tried Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams 😃)
And as a little extra while eating it, play Pat Barretts, "Beautiful Life," as the soundtrack.
Steeple chasing and the creative process.
What happens when you face obstacles? Do challenges stretch you to create or shrink back? We sat around Mia Fieldes' table, playing board games and listening to worship songs that defined our faith's soundtrack. As we listened, her husband pulled up a song that she worked on a little while back. They shared stories about the creative process and taking risks. This is worth adding to your playlist this week.
