Life on Substack is pretty fun. We are making updates regularly and appreciate your feedback.
You’ve been so kind with your responses. Thanks for sharing links and inviting your friends to join us. And for sending emails, engaging in the chat, as well as inviting your pastors and worship community to get involved! We love meeting you all and hearing what kind of creative you are as you take the quiz…. Go the visionaries!
So… while early May will be the official start date for our weekly long-form articles. Today is as good as any to let you in on a few of our recent musings.
The good, the bad, and the ugly!
Late last year, a psychologist friend told us we needed a good process for transition. Twenty-seven years in one place is a long time to spend in one culture. Moving on would take time, attention, and intention. Her advice was journaling.
But not the usual kind.
This was going to feel a bit different.
She told us to get out two journals.
The first one was for the junk - the heartaches and hurt, the injustice, the sad and the mad… we were to scribble, write, journal, cry, get angry, let it all out… process the years, write all we could until we had no more words to write… and when it was done, we were to burn the journal. There was to be no way to relive what was gone.
Okay, done… ✅
And this is where it gets fun!
