Hey Friends,
Do you ever feel like the weeks just roll by? Almost like you’re on repeat, just doing the same things over and over again?
I know I can feel that way sometimes. I have to stop myself spiralling in the thoughts like “is this meaningless”… ”is anything I’m doing, actually doing anything?” or “what am I doing with my life?”
The endless repetition of deadlines, and meetings, and planning, and more meetings. Work, work and more work. Church…. church… church.
It’s not that any of it is bad, it’s just on repeat and can start to feel a bit boring.
So what do I do when I start to feel like that?
Well, to be honest, I’ve found that when I feel that way it’s usually because I’ve gotten caught up in the doing and not the being. I’ve forgotten to live my life, and I’m now just getting stuff done. Ruled by the calendar, not by the purpose.
And so I need to change the rhythms, change my routine, and disrupt the pattern that I’ve allowed myself to slip into.
When it happens, I’ve seen the pattern. I often have to stop watching so much Netflix. Stop scrolling endlessly. Stop getting sucked into the worlds way of dealing with life. Those things are adding to the problem. They’re not fulfilling. Those things don’t really help.
I have to stop living in a boring, mindless, repetitive way.
And start to focus on the Lord again. Start intentionally inviting Him into the every part of my day. Start looking for Him at work in the little things. Start seeing with eyes of faith. Start collaborating with the Holy Spirit on dreams for the future.
This shift changes my outlook, and that changes everything!
Are you on the merry-go-round of life today?
If you’re feeling like life just keeps going in an endless loop, then change the record. Break the cycle. Do something different. Life will never feel better if you keep doing the same things. Don’t stay in the negative, or even neutral pattern of behaviour. Your life is meant to be better than that!
Revisit how you read scripture and the time you spend with the Lord. Decide to crave the word of God and the Spirit’s direction - there’s life there!
Meditate, think about, and dwell on scriptures like Psalm 16:11
“You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”
Spend time with the Lord today and you’ll discover the right pattern and path for your life. And when you do that, recognizing Him and His presence, you will discover a new joy that perhaps had drained out of your life. And you will discover the good life and the pleasures only found in Him. I believe it!!
May this week not be “just another week”.
My prayer for you is that the Holy Spirit will do a fresh work in you, that your eyes will be opened to His purpose for you, and that every day will be full of joy like never before.
Over you you! Live a more creative way.
