Hey Crashers,
Some people just know stuff when it comes to their area of expertise - and on The Rapid 5, we have had musicians and songwriters, worship leaders, communications specialists, and theologians all write around their top 5 tips, tricks, and links, but today is a fun one - meet Luke Webb.
Webby to his friends, basketball fanatic, the one you go to if you want to buy shoes as a gift. He is a lover of family and loyal to the core to his friends - also one of the greatest humans alive - He is tour manager extraordinaire for Hillsong United Young and Free, Hillsong Worship, Brooke Ligertwood, and he is currently in Europe on the road with Kari Job and Cody Cairnes.
Webby shares his travel tips - and they are good ones …. Which hopefully provide a little inspiration for you to prepare for holiday travel this Thanksgiving and Christmas season.
Grace and Peace,
Cass & Rich
P.S. Check out this week’s poll at the bottom of the Rapid 5.
5 things worth sharing this week.
To inspire you … to get organized.
This can be a pouch or zip-up case where you put everything I need for a flight in there, so I know where everything is, and everything has its place, and I don’t have things lying around everywhere.
It stores my cables, adaptors, headphones, SIM cards, eye drops, ear plugs, Barroca, lip balm, sanitizer, and a pocket for my Passport during the flight!
I use an Incase Accessory Organizer.
To motivate you … to pack.
As far as apps go - There are the obvious ones - your airline app, hotel chain app, Spotify, weather, ARBNB, and Uber are all great for traveling.
But one that I can’t do without is one I use before I leave the house.
It’s called “Packr” and is basically a packing list app.
I am a little meticulous with travel and especially packing, and this app helps me plan out everything I need to take. Not just my clothes but all electronics, travel documents, supplies, etc, as it breaks it down into categories.
Everything I walk out the door with has been checked off this list !! A little OCD, but it works.
To encourage you …. to sleep!
This is one of my Amazon finds; perfect if you like to listen to music or white noise to fall asleep and not worry about losing an Airpod or getting uncomfortable sleeping with big headphones on.
This eye mask has built-in speakers in the padding so you can sleep on your side. Perfect for inflight napping or that first few nights in a hotel to beat jet lag.
There are plenty of variations and cheap options on the market.
Bluetooth Sleep Eye Mask and Speaker.
Even at home, if Nikki (my wife) is reading, I can put it on and be in pitch black and listening to my tumble dryer white noise!!

To feed you… or, actually, your devices
Charging cables on the go.
I have tried them all and find that the most reliable are the Apple Cables, as generic brands just stop working.
I have a standard 0.5-meter length cable for flights and plugging into my computer, but I also have a longer 2.0-meter cable for hotel rooms to plug into the side of the bed or when a power outlet is not in a convenient spot.
I also, carry an Apple Mag safe Battery pack that just sticks onto the back of the phone to charge.
To charge my Macbook, I use an Anker Nano II 65w USB-C charger.
It’s more compact than a standard Apple charger and has enough power to charge anything.
To stretch you.. or your capacity to work on the road.
There are two items I could not do without, and that help me have a two-screen office set up in the air or on the go. My ASUS 15-inch Portable monitor and my Roost Laptop Stand.
Both are super lightweight, portable, and compact, which is what you need when traveling.
And a bonus one…..
Practically speaking - when traveling, I probably could not do without my Nike slides (or any other brand slides) as they are comfortable enough for long journeys and easy to take on and off at airport security. And also when on the plane to take off and relax but also to put on easily to go to the bathroom!
