Create margin in the mess.

You’re not alone!
Sometimes in Church, as creatives, we feel we’re the only ones who work hard and give all our time and energy to the task at hand. Turns out, according to the WeTransfer 2022 survey, it’s an industry-wide problem. The prevailing insight here is that learning to say, “no” to some projects will be one key to ensuring longevity as a creative. Getting the balance right.
I found this episode of Wade Joye’s podcast (Dreamers and Disciples) really encouraging. I don’t know Ps Shawn Wood personally, but he’s been working through some of the same ideas that I have - mainly the balance between excellence (and all the work that comes with it) versus pure devotion (with the apparent lack of bells and whistles). Is there a way to be excellent but not drive yourself and everyone else into the ground? I believe there is. Get the audio version here.

This topic has been at the front of my mind in this current season. It would be nice is somebody else could figure this out for my life and then tell me what to do. Like so much of life, it requires a level of intentionality that I have lost sight of. Thanks for the reminder to question how I spend my time.
