The best mock-ups you've ever seen for designers everywhere | Jay Argaet from Avenir
5 Things worth sharing this week.
Hey Crashers,
An incredible thing about working on a church staff for years is the friendships created and crafted in the trenches, around tables, and at rehearsals. One of my favorite people of all time to collaborate with was Jay Argaet. He was the mastermind behind 'No Other Name in Times Square,' the 'cross equals love' campaign, and many other things (too many to list). He now runs an incredible creative agency called Avenir.
Jay makes beautiful things with solid messaging and storytelling behind the creativity. If you follow him on Instagram, you'll know he's just been shooting footage for one of his clients in the Dominican Republic. He texted me to introduce me to his new sponsor child with Compassion. His heart is as big as it is creative! Anyway… Jay is the brains behind this week's Rapid 5, and I hope his creativity and inspiration will help you stretch your creative scope this week.
LOVE - The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry - John Mark Comer
I have a deep appreciation for this book as it has helped me in the past, and I find myself returning to it once again. As a new dad with a growing business, I am constantly reminded of the importance of slowing down and making time for self-care. It can be difficult to prioritize eating, praying, loving, and living fully in the midst of a busy life, but this book serves as a helpful reminder that God can be found in the slow and quiet moments.
LISTEN - Christian Löffler
As a big admirer of instrumental electronic and cinematic music, I often use it as a source of escapism to transport myself to a place of mindfulness, where I can unleash my creativity and let my imagination run wild. Although I have many favorites, German producer and artist Christian Löffler's music has become my go-to choice of late. It's the perfect sound to sweep me away into a dreamlike state and inspire my artistic endeavors.

LOOK - Odesza - Light Of Day (feat. Ólafur Arnalds) MUSIC VIDEO
Music video briefs often come with low budgets and tight timelines, making it rare for directors to create a well-thought-out story or experience. However, the "Light Of Day" music video by Odesza & Oladur Arnalds is a true masterpiece that combines 2D and 3D animation with physical elements to create a captivating world.
Despite being only four minutes long, the project took almost nine months to complete, and the behind-the-scenes "Making Of" video is a testament to the team's dedication and hard work. It's an incredible piece of art that I feel fortunate to have witnessed.

LAUGH - Sling / Crossbody Bags
So, I've got this little problem where I always seem to lose my stuff. It's pretty bad - I've gone through three pairs of AirPods in just a year! Anyway, I used to never be a bag person, but I recently got into wearing a crossbody bag - it's seriously been a game-changer. Now all my important things like my phone, keys, and wallet are all in one spot. Living in a hybrid world of meeting clients, co-working spaces, shoots, etc., it's just really been something simple that has made life so much easier. Sometimes you just need your hands free to do things.
LEARN - Use Quality Mockups
When you are presenting designs to a client - high-quality and iconic mockups are essential. Simply sending raw JPEGs won't cut it. By incorporating your designs into a mockup, you can quickly create a visual representation of the final product, which is much more compelling for clients.
This not only allows them to see what the finished product will look like but also increases the chances of faster approval. Additionally, using a mockup helps bridge the gap between how designers and clients perceive designs, ensuring that nothing is left to interpretation.
