Hey Crashers,

It’s been a week of thinking about what it means to be truly ‘inspired’.

Wikipedia says that “Inspiration (from the Latin inspirare, meaning "to breathe into") is an unconscious burst of creativity in a literary, musical, or visual art and other artistic endeavours.”

So the question is, where does that “unconscious burst” come from? And how do we live inspired every day?

Hopefully, today’s Rapid 5 and Rhino Journals will help you answer those questions!!

Grace and Peace,

Rich & Cass

In today’s issue:

  • Five books to set your creative soul wandering.

  • A code that will give you time to pause.

  • A friend’s words to get you truly ‘inspired’.

  • and more…

The War of Art is a classic book for those needing a good dose of motivation to do what they love to do, especially when they don’t want to do it! If that’s you, get this book for your bookshelf; you’ll read it repeatedly. I promise! (LINK)

The Creative Act, by Rick Rubin, is one of those books that will make you happy about being creative. He says, “To create is to bring something into existence that wasn’t there before.” What pastime could more reflect our Creator God? (LINK)

Art and Faith is a book for those who think deeply about their faith, not just their art. Including a foreword by N.T. Wright, this book is a theology of making, and it’s well worth the investment of time, money, and headspace. (LINK)

Beholding will stretch the way you approach your times of personal prayer and devotion. If you need inspiration and motivation in your creativity, ministry, or life in general, this book may be the one for you! (LINK)

This little booklet, Exploring Creativity, is not an easy read. It’s by Jan Løhmann Stephensen, an associate professor in the Department of Communication and Culture at Aarhus University (Denmark). I have linked it here because I write about it in today’s Rhino Journals. If you end up reading the book - please let me know! (LINK)
